These terms of purchase apply to the purchase of physical goods, yarn kits, and digital products from Sjøllaget AS's online store. The terms shall not be interpreted as a limitation of the customer's statutory rights.
1. The Parties
The seller is:
Sjøllaget AS
Organization number: 934 988 108
Lyder Sagens gate 8
Bergen, Norway
E-mail: post@sjollaget.no
The buyer is the consumer who makes the order, and is referred to further as "the customer".
2. Prices and payment
Prices in the online store may be displayed in different currencies depending on the customer's country or chosen currency. Prices may therefore vary due to currency conversion.
The applicable price and currency are displayed in the online store before the customer completes the purchase. The total price the customer is to pay, including any shipping costs and other costs that Sjøllaget AS requires in connection with the purchase, is shown before the order is completed.
Prices include applicable VAT and public taxes where this is relevant.
Sjøllaget AS uses Shopify Payments and Vipps as payment solutions. Available payment methods may vary depending on the customer's country, currency, and order.
Sjøllaget AS does not store the customer's payment details. Payment information is processed through the relevant payment solution in accordance with the provider's security and privacy routines.
3. Delivery of physical goods
Sjøllaget AS processes and ships orders as quickly as possible. Normal delivery time is 1–3 weeks, depending on the recipient's address, which products are ordered, and where the item is shipped from.
Certain products are shipped directly from Sjøllaget AS's suppliers. Products from House of Yarn may be shipped directly from House of Yarn, while some yarn kits with yarn from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk may be shipped directly from Hillesvåg.
If an order contains products that are shipped from different warehouses or suppliers, the order may be delivered in several separate shipments.
Although certain items are shipped directly from suppliers, Sjøllaget AS is the seller and the customer's contracting party. Questions regarding orders, delivery, the right of withdrawal, returns, or complaints should therefore be directed to Sjøllaget AS.
Delivery times may be longer during periods of high demand or as a result of unforeseen circumstances. If significant delays occur with the order, the customer can contact Sjøllaget AS at post@sjollaget.no.
4. Digital patterns
Digital knitting and crochet patterns are delivered electronically after payment is completed.
Digital patterns are for personal use only unless otherwise expressly stated. The patterns shall not be copied, resold, shared, or otherwise distributed without permission from Sjøllaget AS.
5. Right of withdrawal on digital patterns
When purchasing a digital pattern that is delivered immediately, the customer must expressly consent to the delivery of the digital content starting before the expiration of the ordinary withdrawal period. The customer must simultaneously acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is thus lost when delivery starts.
Once the customer has given this consent and delivery of the digital pattern has started, the right of withdrawal does not apply to the pattern.
This does not limit the customer's statutory rights if there is an error or defect in the digital pattern.
6. Yarn kits with digital pattern
A yarn kit from Sjøllaget AS consists of physical goods in the form of yarn and a digital knitting or crochet pattern. The right of withdrawal for the physical and the digital part of the yarn kit is handled separately.
The yarn
For the physical part of the yarn kit, the standard 14-day right of withdrawal applies in accordance with the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act.
If the customer wishes to exercise the right of withdrawal, Sjøllaget AS must receive clear notification before the expiration of the withdrawal period.
The customer covers the direct costs of the return, unless otherwise agreed.
The customer has the right to examine the item. If the yarn has been handled beyond what is necessary to determine the item's nature, characteristics, and function, the customer may be held liable for any reduction in value.
When the conditions for the right of withdrawal are met, the part of the purchase price that applies to the physical part of the yarn kit is refunded.
The digital pattern
The digital pattern included with the yarn kit is treated as digital content.
If the customer has expressly consented to the digital pattern being delivered before the expiration of the withdrawal period and has simultaneously acknowledged that the right of withdrawal for the digital content is thus lost, the right of withdrawal does not apply to the pattern once delivery has started.
If the customer exercises the right of withdrawal for the yarn after the digital pattern has been delivered, the part of the purchase price that applies to the digital pattern is therefore not refunded. The value of the digital pattern is stated in connection with the purchase.
This does not affect the customer's statutory rights if there is an error or defect in the yarn or the digital pattern.
7. Right of withdrawal on other physical goods
When purchasing physical goods online, the customer generally has a 14-day right of withdrawal in accordance with the Right of Withdrawal Act.
The withdrawal period normally runs from the day after the customer has received the item.
If the customer wishes to exercise the right of withdrawal, Sjøllaget AS must receive a clear message about this before the expiration of the withdrawal period. The customer can use the received withdrawal form or in another clear way notify that they wish to exercise the right of withdrawal.
After the customer has given notice of the exercise of the right of withdrawal, the item must be returned without undue delay and no later than 14 days.
The customer covers the direct costs of the return, unless otherwise agreed.
The customer has the right to examine the item. If the item has been handled beyond what is necessary to determine the item's nature, characteristics, and function, the customer may be held liable for any reduction in value.
When the conditions for the right of withdrawal are met, Sjøllaget AS refunds the amount in accordance with the Right of Withdrawal Act.
8. Return of physical goods and yarn kits
When exercising the right of withdrawal, the customer can contact Sjøllaget AS at post@sjollaget.no for information on where the item should be returned.
Certain products are shipped directly from Sjøllaget AS's suppliers, including House of Yarn and Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The return address may therefore vary depending on which product the customer has purchased.
Items shall not be returned directly to House of Yarn, Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, or other suppliers without this having been agreed upon with Sjøllaget AS in advance.
The customer covers the direct costs of the return, unless otherwise agreed.
9. Complaints regarding physical goods
If there is an error or defect in a physical item, the customer's rights according to the Consumer Purchases Act apply.
This could be, for example, if the customer has received the wrong item or the wrong quantity of items, the item is damaged, or the item otherwise does not correspond to what was agreed upon.
The customer must file a complaint within a reasonable time after the defect was discovered or should have been discovered. A complaint within two months after the defect was discovered is always on time.
As a general rule, the time limit for filing a complaint is two years. For items that are intended to last significantly longer than two years under normal use, the complaint period may be five years.
The right of complaint does not cover faults or damage due to normal wear and tear, incorrect use, accidents, or other conditions for which the customer themselves is responsible.
If there is a defect, Sjøllaget AS handles the case in accordance with the Consumer Purchases Act. Depending on the circumstances, this may include repair, replacement, price reduction, or cancellation of the purchase.
For complaints, the customer can contact Sjøllaget AS at post@sjollaget.no. The customer is welcome to describe the problem and attach photos if relevant.
This also applies to products shipped directly from House of Yarn, Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, or another supplier. Sjøllaget AS is the customer's contracting party and point of contact for complaints.
10. Errors or defects in digital patterns
Even if the right of withdrawal on a digital pattern has lapsed, the customer retains their statutory rights if there is an error or defect in the pattern.
This could apply, for example, if the customer receives the wrong pattern, cannot access the file, the file does not work as intended, or the pattern otherwise does not correspond to what was agreed.
If the customer discovers an error in a digital pattern, the customer can contact Sjøllaget AS at post@sjollaget.no. Sjøllaget AS will investigate the matter and, where relevant, attempt to correct the error or provide the customer with a corrected file.
Other claims may apply if the defect is not corrected, in accordance with the Digital Content Act.
11. Dispute resolution
If the customer believes there is an error or defect in a purchase, the customer can first contact Sjøllaget AS at post@sjollaget.no so that the parties can attempt to find a solution.
If the parties do not reach an agreement, the case may be brought before the Norwegian Consumer Authority for mediation. If mediation does not lead to a result, the case may in relevant instances be brought further to the Consumer Complaints Board.
